So I bought a air cooled 250R. Turns out bad 2nd gear... Big Ed in phoenix was nice enough to hook me up with a bottom end so I can get the tranny fixed. Well I get a e mail from another fellow trike nut, and I buy a 81/2 builder motor for parts (turns out he got it from big ed too). Thought was to take the two parts motors and build a nice motor and just bolt it in and go. Wel I get to talking to another guy tonight with another beater, non running 250R for sale. So Im thinking of buying it for what? I dont know. I only need to get my 2nd gear fixed on my 84. If I buy this other trike, ive got fenders for it. And knowing myself, I'll end up putting it back together. Probably end up with another complete 250R with or without 2nd gear, probably without 2nd gear, because thats just how my luck goes with these things. Sorry for the rant, I just have to talk myself out of this madness! jim

Decided against the trike. Figure I have 2 trannys now. Im hoping 1 is good. for 40 bucks for a gasket kit and mine should be good to go.
Then again, I go to a yard sale, this guys got a 200ES and a 185S sitting on flats. 375 for the 185S 400 for the ES. They dont run, wife says how about 100 bucks. The guy asked for my number and said if they dont sell (which I hope they wont) he'll call me sunday. jim

Sounds like your "madness" is rubbing off on your wife too. Let us know how that deal works out.:w00t:

I went back today and looked at the trikes a bit closer. I offered the guy 200 bucks for the 84 200E or es its a shaft drive with reverse. Hopefully he calls in the morning. The 185 has a stuck throttle cable, needs 2 tires. the 200ES looks like it needs fresh gas and a carb cleaning. We'll see. jim

Now Im the proud owner of a 84 200ES. First shaft drive honda Ive owned. Guy called me back in the morning, told me he had a guy offer him $250 for it. If I wanted it, since I was the first to talk to him, he was going to give me first dibs. I politely passed, I told him it was only worth $200 to me so he may as well sell it for $250 to the "other" guy. Well he came right back and said $200 would be fine. This thing really only needs a carb clean, battery and a front tire. Seats good, plastics had a few repairs, but I bet Im into it for less than $300 total when its all said and done. I may even go and get a title for it. jim

I posted up in trikesylvania. But the ES runs now! I think it had a dirty contact in the switch. Finally got it so it would get a nice hot consistant spark and next thing you know, its running. now for the front tire and battery! jim
