Looked at some three wheelers today. One was a 200m, which looked junky and I didn't pay much attention to. Then there was a 250sx that looked some what complete and decent to make a runner out of. Still didn't pay much attention to it.
What I went to look at is the 2 250r's.
One nice roller and one more of a parts bike.
I was caught up in the moment like when ever I go to look at stuff, so I didn't notice if they were air or liquid cooled.
So my question now is did any 250r come with a steel tank with the plastic scoops on the side?
The scoops were only for liquid cooled 250r's I thought. But then the confusion is, I thought only air cooled 250r's had steel tanks?
So does anyone know what came with a steel tank with the scoops on the side? Did the 250sx?
Thanks in advance,
Josh

I have been searching through photos, and Haven't found one of a 250sx with scoops. Do you have a pic of one?
So far the only tank that looks steel with scoops is 200x. But then it was the only 200x part

Never seen an SX with scoops. I think youre mistaking it with the 200x.

Do you have a pic, because all the pictures I can find of air cooled 250r's, the tanks don't have the scoops

Thanks for the link. The tank I saw must have been from 83/84, so the two frames must be 83/84.
Man, I wish they were liquid cooled, but still worth the price

81/82 250r and 84 200m

And the biggest, most disappointing box I ever got

The 250sx seems like I should be able to get running easy. It seems like it would be a wheelie machine
And I guess I will have to start looking for a new 250r motor when I get the money. I will probably fix up the 200s my friend gave me, sell it, and buy a used 250r motor

Okay, new question.
Does anybody know for sure if the 81/82 250r front end will fit on the 250sx?

Ya, I hope to thin it out though.
I gave my dad the 250sx kinda, that way he wouldn't be so mad about the wheeler bone yard out back.
We got the sx to fire up, then noticed a major oil leak. Turns out the front of the crankcase has a hole in it. Anybody have any luck with jb weld or do I have to tear it all apart and get it TIG'd?

do not jb weld it do the job right..or buy a new/used motor

The hole was small. About the size of a pencil eraser. I already JB welded it. If it doesn't work, then maybe I will think about replacing it.
the 81-82 250r you pointed out is a 84-85 200x

Ha, I was just coming to correct that to avoid the embarrassment. I joined an air fooler forum and they pointed that out for me. I really didn't have a clue what it was.
The big problem now is that I was planning on using that front end on the 250sx, but I have always wanted a 200x. And I got a motor for it in the garage.
Guess I got some decisions to make...
Though the 200m will be for sale if anybody needs a nice roller minus plastics
