Hey guys just wondering what a decent Honda atc 70's worth?I've been seeing a few pop up around here on Craigslist.I may get the kiddo one and put some work into it for a christmas present.. I saw one a little while back that the guy was asking $1200 for..That's a little extreme huh?It didn't look like it was worth half of that from the pics.I've also came across a couple for $250 and under.
Just looking for some info..Thanks

For 1200.00 it should be mint and that would still be high. 300-600 will get you a nice 70 that needs nothing.

Yeah I think one that much should be brand new unridden NOS. Most I see go from 200-600$ depending on shape and if it runs.

I paid $300 each for 2 of mine and the other on a trade for work( about $350 labor worth). All are/were runners and in very good shape. Just keep looking around.
Everybody on Craigslist wants a million dollars for 70's around here, since the "70 craze" took off about 2 years ago.
We find them at swap meets with broken pullstarters, and bad brakes for 150$ quite often.
Take em home, throw some new shoes and brake cables on them, rewind the pullstarter, clean the carb and maybe new points, and for around 250$ you can end up with decent looking running rider.
Kind of ironic..
I see you are from Texas. Our first 70,we got at the Ohio vintage days in that condition above for 160$ and the owner was from Texas.
That same year at the swap meet, there was a cherry 85, that looked brand new.
It sold for 475$.
A really nice 85 sold on CL in Ohio yesterday for 700$.

I live near Austin. I paid $300 for my 83 about 6 months ago. It's in great shape but needed a seat cover and foam. I added a new sticker on the fender.
It also came with 3 near new tires, 2 brand new tires (all Chen Shin), 2 original Ohties, a spare coil, manual and a paper trail back to the original owner in CA.
I think is was a great deal.
I've been looking for another in more "project" condition since then - but even the pure unusable junk around here (I look in DFW and SATX too) wants $100-$200. Not gonna do it.
$300-$500 will get a real nice one somewhere in TX if you're patient.

They are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.....To the right person it may be worth 1200.00. To me and you its probably not worth 300$.

i bought and sold more ATC 70s than i can count. i get them 3 or 4 at a time for next to nothing and not running. i will take all of them and some new parts and make them look like new. when i am done i will get $700 to $850 for them. i did see one sell a year ago for $1200. it was bought new and stuck in the basement and never ridden. it was an 85. i always get more for an 85 than any other year.

I have been keeping my eye open for a 70 for a while now. Ran across this today. Is it a steal? Should i jump on it or wait for a better deal? I'm hesitant because of christmas coming up i dont want to cut myself short.

i would buy it for that much. that's not to bad for a 74 in that shape. although, the back bar and one of the foot heal guard is missing. those two parts are not cheep on E bay.
