I need help selecting a good set of tires for the rear. I'm going to be riding the bike mostly at Coal Creek ATV Park in Tennessee. Incase anyone hasn't been there I highly recommend it!!! You could ride all day and night and not cover all the trails they have to offer. Anyways the terrain there is mostly rocky. I need a good tire that will hold up in the mountains and be able to tackle rocky hill climbs, some light mud, and creek crossings. Any ideas?
My tire size is 25x12x9 I think.

I couldn't recommend a mud tire, especially with mostly rocky terrain. I would suggest a 6ply tire, or minimum 4ply to help fend off rock punctures. What's your price point? Lots of selection out there.

I like Strykers on the bigger utility trikes. Good trail tire for all conditions in my opinion. I've used them on 2 different trikes in pretty well exactly the same conditions you're going to encounter. Prices aren't bad either.

more importantly my tire size, there aren't many good selections, price really isn't a factor.

No, but I have used the Kenda Scorpion, which has some good reviews on here. It's also a decent do all tire but only 2ply which isn't the best for a lot of rock riding. Also the knobby pattern isn't too great for mud.

What about the Kenda bearclaw? Wont more aggressive tire wear out the rear end more faster?

Bearclaw is a mud tire. It's hard to resist the pull of those cool looking aggressive mud tires but the charm will wear off real fast when you see how they wear riding the rocks like in your area. It's possible to ride a mud tire on the rocks but it's like wearing your clothes backwards, gets the job done but it's not optimal and you'll look silly :) You need more rubber contact area and the more biting edges and sipes the better. It's a bit of a balance because you need a higher ply rating for rock protection, but higher plys mean less conformity which means less traction, however that can be offest by using a tire that has a lot of rubber contact and edges. Knobbies aren't the coolest tire these days but in you're case they'll likely work the best IMHO. The Vipers look like a good prospect for rears, and I'd throw a Scorpion on the front, they steer awesome with really good feedback.

I went with the kenda vipers in the rear and a cheng shinn knobby tire in the front. I wanted the scorpion in the front but the cheng shinn was a few dollars less and almost the same tread pattern. total for 3 new tires was $194.00

Awesome, post up pics when you get a chance. I've used a Cheng Shin knobby up front before and found it works very well. It's a popular steer tire for utility trikes.

I went to coal creek about a month ago. The place is awesome. We took our dirt bikes though. Beautiful place. I thought the windmills on top pf the maintains where amazing. We stayed two nights at the campground. The first night we where there, no body else was. It was really fun.
