When I first got this wheeler, about a year ago, I took it for a ride in the woods. After a few minutes it quit, just like it ran out of gas. I tried to restart it and it would not fire. After about 15 minutes it fired right up and I loaded it up and brought it home. I pulled the petcock out and the screen was dirty. Not so dirty that I thought it would be the problem but I cleaned it out, drained the gas and put it back together. I ran it a little here and there since then with no problems. Then comes hunting season, and I'm using it alot. First three days I ran it alot with no problems. Then the other day It did the same thing. Driving along and it sputters acouple times then dies. This time it will fire right back up but only runs for a few seconds. The longer I let it sit, the longer it will run. If it sits 5 minutes It will run for a minute or two. I have yet to take it apart. But I'm wondering if this happened to anyone, and what the problem was.
Thanks

Check the gas cap vent.

i agree make sure the cap is venting , if its not working more than likely when you remove the cap you will hear the pressure build up being released if not than you can pretty much rule that out .

next time it happens take the gas cap off and put it back on and then try to start it . if it runs for a longer time then it is the vent. i just drill a 1/8 hole in it close to the center and to where the vent knob will cover the hole when in the on position. i guess you should first make sure that the knob on the gas cap is in the on position. i have seen people that thought that was to be in the off position.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have confirmed the gas cap vent is not the problem. While I was monkeing around with it today it started pouring gas out the carb bowl overflow. So it appears the carb is going to need to come apart and get a good cleaning. I suppose if the float valve is'nt closing that could cause my problem. Guess I'll find out when I get in there.
