finally getting to the point where I have time to install my tri z bigbore kit. I was talking with a neighbor of mine who builds and races quads and got on the topic of nickasil plated cylinders. He has a company that does all his work and can get stuff done for a little over $200 per cylinder. He said they last alot longer and don't hardly wear when plated and when his company does 2 stroke stuff they are all chamfered and ready to go. So, do you guys think I should plate my cylinder before I put it together? It would probably need honed and rings once in awhile but should last alot longer. So I need opinions on this and if it's worth the money to do it. If it works like I think, I would save money in the long run on boring the cylinder and buzzying oversized pistons. What should I do?

Wouldnt even think twice if your willing to spend the money to have it done. I send all my stuff to Millenium Technologies www.mt-llc.com they do awsome work.

I think that might be where my neighbor sends his stuff... So it's a no-brainer? Or at least a very worth-while investment?

Scratch the plating and you're back to square one. It can be a risky little game

The nickasil bore is way stronger than the iron liner. They run cooler they dont wear as fast and why do all the factoy bikes have them now. Short story my friend built his KX450 with so much compression that it cracked the stock cylinder right threw the water jackets. He sent it out had them install a steel sleeve and then plate over it. Problem solved

Hmmm, think I might be visiting my neighbor in the next couple of days to discuss my options. Might go through with it, I'll keep posted with any updates :)
