I have some NOS tires that I dont plan on using for a few years. Whats the best way to store them? Id hate to get to project time down the road to learn theyve blossomed into a pile of cracky junk.

If they have survived this long in some dealerships stock room I'm sure they will last you quite a bit longer. Just throw them in a closet in your house and forget about them. I would think temperature extremes and sun would be the biggest enemy.

Spray down good with WD40 and wrap in plastic. Store in a cool dry place.

As long as you store them i a dry and cool place they should be fine . Also keep them out of the sun . The sun will do the most damage to the tires in the long run .
I rub mine down with vaseline and then shrink rap them ( to keep the vaseline from getting on everything ). I am unsure if there is a need but i am just being cautious.

I was thinking cover them in grease as a joke, but vaseline, yeah, that makes sense.

sunlight and cold are the enemy ,along with sitting on dirt

WD-40 will soften the rubber, basically slightly dissolve it. Racers use it to soften their tires before races. I would think the best think is leave them like the are, put them somewhere dark and a constant temp. Tires seem like they have some sort of coating from the factory. I would leave them be.

i got a set of the take off 350X tires and wheels from when they cut them up around 87. i got them around 98. he had put each of them in a trash bag and dumped alot of armor all in the bag and then sealed it up. when i got them i opened them up and it stunk so bad it was incredible. after i washed them up they looked as good as new. i think if i were to do it i would just put each one in a bag and keep them dry with nothing in the bag. if they are on rims, let all the pressure out, i would even take out the valve core.

Tires from abroad and even from here are coated with Cosmolene from the OEM. This stuff is an awesome anti corrosive goo.

I wouldn't put anything on them, especially something petroleum based like WD40. Just put them in black garbage bags and store them somewhere out of the sun and the cold.

DO NOT use WD-40 on rubber products as it has acetone in it. That will not do wonders for your tires.
