I had my 200m running today, and when I was just about ready to put it away the motor started to make a bad sound. It was like a howl and a roar combined from what sounded like the bottom end.
I pushed it to my garage and pulled the motor over slowly, and the sound was still there. I started it up and noticed the sound wasn't as load, but sometimes when I reved the engine and let off the gas I'd hear the sound load for a moment, then it would quiet down.
I thought it sounded like it may be spinning a bearing.
What could it be?
I checked the oil and it seems to be at the correct level, and it dosen't seem to have any water in it,

The only other problem that I can thing of is that the bolt that holds the flywheel in place worked it's way loose, and now the flywheel is loose.
I don't see any reason why it would have spun a bearing.
What does everyone else think?

Probably a one way clutch or grab and go bearing, if it's an auto or has electric start. They can squeel, scream and sound horrible!

I never thought about the either of the one-way cluches. Hopefully that's all it is. I'll check tomorow.
Thank for the help!

Make sure your pull start isn't falling apart....

I don't think you can spin a bearing in a small honda 4 stroke like you can in a small block chevy...I would say it's a one way clutch...

I'm thinking now that it might be the one way clutch on the back of the flywheel for the starter.
It's -10C here plus wind, so I'm not going to go take anything part today.

I had it running today and it didn't seem to be making the sound. I started it up, let it warm up, then took it for a drive around the yard, no sound, so I took it out for a drive down the road and into a field and noticed no problem.

Yep, they rarely spin bearings so to speak.....

I've heard those one way clutches squeal like crazy and scare the snot out of me :lol

Don't worry, it's probably something simple and AT LEAST not within the crank or center cases :beer
