I touched on this yesterday but no no one responded.... I want your sloppiest parts which helps me find the worse care scenario.

I need someone to send me the small aluminum sidecover the brake pivots ride on (no gears or shafts etc etc though. I have to machine down that aluminum cover on my lathe to accept either a 660 bronze or an oil impregnated bronze bushing. If I can machine this, press in the bushing and orings for about 30$, it will be back to factory tight and you just need to maintain it. 30$ to fix it and 10$ to maintain it, thats the best I can do!!

The more pieces you send me the better. IF it's so far gone than this repair may not work............ (so the average sloppy stuff would also be helpful).

Whoever sends me those parts gets free machining, I just need 10$$ help cover the bushing/seals and return shipping. We'll see how things go, but maybe I'll PC both pieces

IF I also need to machine the brake pedal itself to accept the bushing and some o-rings instead of the oem lipped seals, it will add to the cost.

If I can get a grease fitting in there, I'll do that also. But, the bronze I use is oil impregnated and needs no grease, just take it apart every so often and oil/grease it..........

Another option is chopping off the large round brake pedal pivot and machining/mig welding one in place to accept a larger needle bearing. This would be the slickest assembly but allot of machine work is involved along with the mig welding. That large needle bearing maybe a 20-30$ part......... and the bronze bushings may be just fine for 85% of us.

I think I can machine that cover and turn down the OD of a bronze bushing with the machining/bushing and 2 orings. ALL of which can be relaced.

Take it another step - does your kicker leak at that area? That stock kicker shaft runs right in your aluminum (no support). I could machine it to accept a needle bearing (best) or a bronze bushing you can replace. That is allot of work for the average guy...............

I can also powder coat everything too for an additional fee. If I can do a few at a time, I can PC that aluminum engine cover and pedal for probably another 20$, a bit more if only one is done at that time.

Everything comes with a 100% guarantee, but thats EVERYTHING I DO anyhow............

please don't make me buy one on EBAY. I have an NOS cover but I cannot find these brake pedals anyhow :(

I don't own an 83-85 200X but I'd like to tighten them up for you guys, so the really worn stuff is best for me to see what I have to do!

Send me yours and 10$ later and your the "test pilot"

I would like to get some stuff rolling and if you think you may have another project in mind or an improvement ( I do enjoy the harder stuff !!)

I have a lathe, a Bridgeport, blast cabinet, taps/dies, axy/acetylene, tubing bender etc etc and I stand by all my stuff 100%.

Frames make guys shyaway, people assume that they are too far away..............from MASS. But, guys have done some research and shrink-wrappping a frame may be your cheapest bet. Talk to GOAT................

Ive gusseted 3 frames now and everyone loves them, they WILL NOT snap the left verticle rail again. And again, I stand by my work 100%. If the shipping scares you, check into it s bit more. Apparently Greyhound will drop off a frame (at a terminal somewhere remotely close for you or I to pick up....

I'm long term member with about 8000 posts and have some sort of integrety/honesty to live up to; or a relation to Bernie Maddoff

ATCST@Verizon.net is how to reach me and I'll give you an address I can pik stuff up from.

Dammit!

If nobody else comes through with a brake pedal, hit me up in a few days. I might have one (somewhere).

I could send you my pedal and buy your cover. That way I could keep on riding, minus the rear brake.

The only cover I have is NOS and it's staying in the box or for sale for 2500$

I just need the small cover with the 6 bolts AND a worn brake pedal.

I shot an email back to someone?? We'll see, I just need 1 guinea pig!!

Did anyone measure the ID of the pivot on the pedal??

I need that so I can get a couple bushings of diff sizes/materials...........

I.D of the pedal 1-13/16, I.D of the pedal bushing 1-7/16..

RAFFA - Shoot me an email so I can grab your pedal and small cover please..... The more worn out the better.

why would honda put the pivot point on the motor?

^ IDK....... Not the best of there ideas.

Then again, many of there brake pivots are directly on steel. Steel wears "better" but there is still nothing "replaceable" In all honesty, the play in my 350X pedal bugs me and it's not all that bad

But even the 83-85 kicker seems to feel "weird", it isn't a positive feel like the 86/87 or 250R/350X kickers feel.

Only "they" know why.

Some of those 85's have a TON of slop in them (the 85 I had was sloppy as all hell!), I'm not sure how much wear can be dealt with. I want it to be a 'rebuildable" assembly and not a welded on steel collar or something.......

I'd love to see a needle bearing in that brake pivot, but I think it would be too expensive. I'll start with the cheap easy fix and roll from there :D

Who knows, maybe All balls may make a bearing I can incorporate from a shock linkage pivot or something??

Raffa, whats the brass fitting on the clutch cover? Oil pressure gauge or oil cooler port? Did you have to drill and tap it, or is there a plug I didn't notice on mine?

Dirtcrasher

Must be for an oil cooler...........

Took me a little bit to figure this out (since I don't have a pedal until "Sir Raffalot" sends me his).

Apparently, there is a "step" inside this pedal that the 2 seals stop on. Which makes the surface that runs on the aluminum even smaller, hence the reason they're all so sloppy.................

I'll have to chop that off and weld on a new piece of clean tubing to accept a bushing and machine the cover for that bushing and 2 (new) seals to pivot on.

I'll have to make some jigs, the welding is chicken and the lathe work should be too.

As soon as I have the parts, I'll post up the results and whether this is cost effective or not. Don't fret Brian, you'll get a new one regardless :w00t:
