Hello, I cannot figure my 250r out. It runs great, but i cannot get it to idle, it has great compression, stock fatty, and stock silencer, new spark flug, no air leaks. I have taken the carb off and cleaned it.

take the intake off the carb on the air box side and look to see if the slide is coming all the way down, work the throttle to make sure its not binding and keeping the slide hung open

if it smokes more than what you think it should than it could be way way rich on the pilot,.... let me look and see if i have a 'cold' vid of my 81 250r

edit... only vids i have of are slow speed riding to wide open throttle

try turning the air screw out... if it doesnt help a pilot change may be required.. a bike will never idle if the pilot circuit is adjusted/jetted incorrectly

well, got it to idle by changing the jets, but now i cant ride it! I was ridin up and down my driveway poppin wheelies, nothin crazy, and i came up towrds the barn just crusin and it bogged out.. So I went to kick it over and no compression! :wondering: So i pushed it into the barn, pulled the head, the top of piston and cylinder looked good from never being rerbuilt, felt the inside of the cylinder and its groved  so then i took the cylinder off and I guess with never bein apart the circlips got weak, it had dropped a circlip and scarred everything up, time for a rebuild, i am hopeing i can get away with the first O.S of 70.50mm but might have to go to 71mm
