Well I went and bought a valve spring compressor from advanced and all they had was the overhead valve type not the c-clamp kind. Well it wont work due to the 200s having a dual spring setup. So do you guys have any tips on homemade jobs? I can get the valves out but need an idea on getting them back in and getting th ekeepers on.

Use a big C clamp and notch a 1/2" piece of conduit . Take a 1 1/4" long piece of half inch conduit make a notch cutout piece about half way up that piece and it does the job great . A magnetic pencil or screwdriver is also handy for catching the keepers when removing them . Hope this helps

torch the sides out of a socket the same size as the valve.. A magnetic pencil is very helpful .. and a ice pick is excellent for moving the keepers around.

well i have just used a closed end of a combination wrench and a buddy lol....using a magnet isnt the best choice though just because it could mangetize other steel parts

I used a 4x4 and 2 old 200s studs to make a jig to hold the head down on the wood and clamp it in a vice. then I made a device that is forked shape and has one end bolt on to the rocker cover bolt hole and i then use aohte that crosses it as a povit point, when I pousl on the 2nd one it pushed down on the retainer and lets me access the keepers fairly easly. it was about $12 in parts and took me all of 2 hours to make. best dam jig i never did. saves me tons of time and ensures no damage to any parts. these tiny heads have to have special stuff to work on them.

Socket with the side cut out and a c-clamp works for me.

Haha, that's what i was going to suggest. Just make sure your buddy has a good grip on that wrench. I like the pipe idea tho and will definitely be using this next time.

All these homemade tools are just great! And I do many of the same........ Th EMT conduit works great once you slice the sides and a magnet and pointed pick get it done.
Just be aware, that if you dick with it long enoigh and it moves around in your vice or bench, before you know it you've done more damage than paying someone with the right tools could have done. I know because I've ruined stuff myself. Sometimes you learn more from ruining stuff rather than doing it (as close to) right. This also holds true with relationships, or so I have learned...... , useless trike hating wenches, FARK EM!! :D
