I have a 1982 KLT200 im not real familliar with any kawasaki products. My problem is my battery loses charge, i get 2 1/2 to 3 hrs of riding in and i get a dead battery. it has an electric fuel pump and i think my battery is running it but nothing is recharging the battery, it runs fine when it runs so i believe the stator is working to run the ignition but not recharging the battery. what can i check on it to find out? is this that dreaded blackbox ive heard about? how can i check stator, voltage regulator, etc. I know alot of people on here are really good with trikes, any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in avance.

pull the battery cable off while running.if it dies, its running off your battery.got a multimeter?that will tell you how much voltage your producing

Thanks for the info. any one know where to get a wiring diagram or a teardown manual for this thing? I need to put a new head gasket on and i'd feel better doing it with a manual. it wont run with the battery cable off, the fuel pump is hooked through the ignition switch strait to the battery. someone has done a nightmare wiring job on this thing and id like to redo it, it has splices and black tape everywhere. thanks

I found a earlier post from you. Do you own a 200 or a 250?

Its an 82 klt 200 with the front end off of a 250, and the controls and handlebars off of some kind of bike, has turn signal switch, horn button and something else, plus starter button all on right side with a twist throttle
