View Full Version : What should I pull behind my quad like a sled?

What should I pull behind it, because the cheap walmart sleds can't handle the stress we usually put them through. I plan on using strong rope, and putting a loop on the axle carrier and making a leader out of swimming pool noodle or radiator hose so it don't get wound up in the sprocket or rotor. Also have sand paddles for traction in the deep snow we always get. Any ideas?

Back in the day at Glamis we used an old Volkswagen bug hood to pull people around the dunes. Turn it upside down and tie your rope on to the hood latch. Works like a charm. If you have the Magnesium engine case you throw that in the bonfire and watch the world light up at night.

We covered it on the blaster forum, but I just wanted a few more opinions. And yes, the trike will probably be pulling the sleds along too.

A hood from a 70s ford truck works great.

Large tractor tire tube. They are very strong and when they ice over they pull like there is nothing behind you. We use to tie two together and tie them with a long rope to the grab bar on a 86? 250r with snow/sand tires. 2 people on the trike for weight and traction and 4 people on the tubes. Lots of fun but bring lots of fuel!!

We used to use saucers (aluminum and plastic), runner sleds, tobogin (spelling?) plastic tobogins, car hoods, truck hoods....ect
My all time favorit is either an aluminum saucer or a wooden tobogin but whatever you pull don't be like my buddy and try to hold the rope like a water skier. Always tie the rope to the sled so all you need to do is hold on.
