What's this lever

I dont care if it's stupid, I just don't know! What is that lever coming off the top end of the motor just under the tank (right above the date!)?

thats a decompression lever it opens the exhuast valve just slightly making it easier to start, flip it up and pull the rope it will automatically fall back down into position

it's not required, but it sure helps to keep you from pulling your arm off when trying to start them!!

it can be required if you don't want to snap ropes
