My 1st Carb Rebuild (Pics & Questions)

Ok so since my Bro's engine is down I have been on the hunt for an engine and found a few options. Since I was in the tinkering mode I decided to rebuild his carb that I have put off for quite some time now.

So far it has been quite simple but now that I am almost done there are a few parts that I am not sure where they go. I know there should not be extra parts except for the extra jet it came with. ( I think its a jet?? LOL)

#1 Spring and rubber gasket. After going through the carb I did not find any other springs or washers that looked like these.

#2 Rubber gasket and washer.

#3 Bigger rubber gasket and clip. I saw the clip in the inside of the metal slide but I could not figure out its function I know its there for a reason. Not sure what though.

#4 Metal pin and metal dowel thingy. I think the pin goes into the dowel and then is connected to the metal slide but I am not sure cause when I removed the carb I did not see the dowel thingy.

#1 looks like the spring and o ring that go in the mixture screw
#2 look like the part that is under the mixture screw. the ones that are in there are hard to get out sometimes. the washer will go on the screw first then the little o ring then the spring from #1 over the top of the screw threads and the o ring from #1 will go on the screw head.
#3, 4, 5. the needle from #4 goes in the slide from #5 and the clip in #3 holder in the needle from #4 inside #5, the other part in #4 goes under the main jet holder. many times i have seen the kit come with the wrong one so i just reuse the one that is in the carb already. it most likely did not come out when you had it apart. the o ring in #3 looks to thick to go on the cap over the slide. i am not sure about this one.

now that i think about it, what bike is this for. 185/200 engine family?

Ok so the o-ring from #1 and the spring from #2 went in the hole when the screw with the really pointy thing was. (is that the mixture screw??) I wish I had a blown up diagram of this carb thing that would help a ton.

Oh and there was no washer when I origanily took apart the mixture screw.

OK everything is accounted for!! WOO HOO no extras!

NOW I NEED TIPS ON GETTING TO LARGE O-RING TO FIT IN THE GROOVES OF THE LOWER HALF SO I CAN PUT IT BACK TOGETHER!!

If your reffering to the bowl gasket, here is what I did. First take a hair dryer and warm up the gasket making sure it is shrunk. If the gasket has moisture in it, it will expand a little and swell up. THen using crazy glue place little drops on the bowl at certain points in the groove and carefully start bending the gasket so that it fits into the groove. This worked perfect for me because I had a terrible time trying to make it fit without glue and plus since my hands were wet the gasket kept swelling up wouldn't seal properly. Good luck.

Yep. A manual goes a long ways to helping you out with rebuilding a carb.

Gentlemen. I completed the rebuild this evening. I wish I had a bike to throw it on to check my work but that will happen soon enough.

The super glue tip was the best thing ever! It went on with out a problem!

Is there any thing I can test while I await getting installed on an engine?
