Why would a 85 kit not work in an 86 motor? Does anyone know what components are different in the two models?

After a little searching around, I think the stator and flywheel are different between the 2 years.

yes, the flywheel is differant between the two. the ring from the kit that goes on the flywheel has a different ID if i remember right.

just swap flywheels and stators and you'll be good to go.

A simple ring gear change by GOKI, and you'd have an E start 86 ATC350X!!

I'm pretty sure that a used 85 flywheel and stator could solve this if you HAD to have e start an e start on your X.......

Hopefully the connection plugs are all the same!
