250R Thrust bushings???

have a new swingarm bolt and bearings for my 84 250R and i need to put the bearings in but i cant get out the bushings out of the swingarm that are in the way. i looked it up in the service manual and it says bring the swingarm to a dealership because the thrust bushings need to be removed with special tools and a hydraulic press. is there any way to get them out so i can get these bearings in?

I had the same problem on my 200x. I had to bring it to a machine shop, and they used a large drill bit in a large drill press, and slowly driled into the old bushing until it caught, then it spun right out. Mine were only the races left, and no needles. What makes it hard for a do it yourself guy is the little step in the swingarm that the bearring sits against. This makes it near impossible to drive it out with a punch.

yeah i can see the races are still in there, so do i need to just bring it in to get the bushings and bearings removed? if theres a way to get them out without damaging them i want to do that since i dont have new bushings

You must mean the inner collar that is suppose to roll within the needle bearing??

Usually those are pitted/rusty and you have to replace the whole shabang. Pivot Works or All Balls have complete kits for about 35,40$.

You have to get creative with threaded rod and sockets or bushings to pull in and out the old bearing. If the sleeve/collar is seized in there, it's junk anyhow so pound away :lol: Just don't ruin the swingarm........

not those, theres 4 bushings that sit in the swingarm and hold the needle bearings in place. they are the bushings that are directly under the seal caps.

i just ended up pounding them out with a punch then cut out the bearing races with a chisel. new bearings are in, hopefully can finish the trike off tommorow or this week at least.
