i've been looking for a 250r 85' or 86' and ive found one but there is something stopping me. #1 im on probation and cant leave the state to go get this thing and #2 the guy said the kid that had it before him rolled it over and killed himself. he had it for about a year now and it has been good to him. i've heard all about its how you ride and this and that, so i'm not worried about riding unsafe im worried about ...a curse or something. i talked to a buddy of mine who worked at a harley dealer and the one guy there had a harley that a guy was killed on. later on that guy was killed on the same bike. you dont always know the past history about your machine but if you do know someone was killed on it wouldnt it be in your head every ride? what would you do?? have someone go get the 250r for me since i cant leave the state or look for another one.

life is too short for superstitious bullcrap. If it was a good deal I would but a 3 wheeler that stuck wide open and killed an entire preschool class of toddlers out for a walk and then flipped 27 times killing every person within a half mile and then landed on my grandmother and killed her too....twice
. screw it
and technically speaking the dude was probably killed by hitting the ground. The poor 3 wheeler just got the blame, as usual

Wouldn't slow me down for a second. It's not the trike's fault.

I agree who's to say some of us don't unknowingly have a trike someone died using? Its a sad story but it could have been 100% the riders fault( just take a peek at the trike ban list), people die in cars, trains plains, on quads, dirt bikes, sleds, etc. In this case someone died on a 3 wheeler. I say get it.

HAHAhahahaa thanks for the laugh. That was funny. Like said. It's not the machines fault, simply rider error.

Stuipid people are born and die every day, trikes were discontinued 20+ years ago and die every day! Do the math! One of the two are becoming slim pickings!

For the right price i am sure they will deliver it to you. My streetbike riding partner (who was also one of my best friends) was killed on his 03 Yamaha R1, and his widow gave me the bike afterwards under the condition that i restore it and ride it in his memory. I sold my gsxr1000 and now i ride his bike. his boots and helmet are in my house and the bike is sitting in the garage on the battery tender as we speak. it is in mint condition, just the way he would have wanted it.
Buy the trike and take good care of it. keep it clean and don't beat it. that would serve the kid's memory the best -trust me.

Unless you are on an ankle monitor.....go get the damn thing. And negotiate a better price while you are at it! Agree with the others, the bike isn't cursed, it is the riders fault 99% of the time. Don't blame the bike!

I'm trying to figure out if I really disagree, or if I just have to offer a dissenting opinion. It seems like there should have been at least ONE person who said "geez, that's really creepy, I think I'll wait for the next one". That was honestly MY first reaction.

i have bought things people died on an atc 200x. I also know of an 86 250r that a kid was killed on in 1987, the dad cut the thing up in three pieces with a torch. it still lays in the mow of his barn not for sale.

Billions of people have lived and died in every imaginable way, in every imaginable place on earth. are you going to get all superstitious over that trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro for the rest of your life?? If you are in an urban area, ten thousand people probably died within a square mile of your house over a period of time...so what. let it go
Billy Golightly
01-12-2010, 02:51 PM
It'd initially be a little on the freaky side, but I doubt it'd bother me. As long as the death was rider error and not some freak accident like the axle breaking in half or something. Then I'd probably part it.

People pay top dollar for old war guns that probably killed people.
Besides he didn,t die on the trike, he died on the ground.
Seriouly though, you shouldn't care what we think. If you have a problem with it, then it will be in your head while you ride it. That may affect you.
If you buy it, and don't care, make sure you put a kill sticker on it, like on the old warbirds. All forms of motor sports are dangerous, and we live on the edge.

Yes. One of my freinds was killed in 2007 while riding his snowmachine. It was a good machine and with a few repairs was ready to go again. His sister now rides his machine. She needed a better machine and it didn't make much sense financially to sell it and get another like it for her. The thought of keeping that machine felt a little weird at first and we all talked about it. My buddy would always let us try the machine out; he liked seeing us enjoy it. We came to the conclusion that if we were thinking about getting rid of it, he would have hollered at us something like, 'What! That sled is so awesome; go ride it!' There are no bad feelings (quite the opposite really) when I see his sister riding his sled on our many trips in the snow.

I almost want to hear the whole story...
A buddy bought a Ninja ZX10 that two people had previously died crashing. I rode it before he told me, and I would have rode if he had told me first.
My favorite firearms have been WWI and WWII relics that were used in battle. I killed my first deer using a double-barrel 12-guage that was used in a cop killing back in the 1960's.
Unless something's brand new, it has a history of some kind....some gloomier than others. What matters is what I do with it.

I guess the fact that it would creep me out means I'm just not as tough as y'all. It would freak my wife out even more, which is another reason I wouldn't do it. And of course I would tell her, I tell my wife everything!
If the thing was next door, and the price was cheap, I'd be tempted to snag it too, but if it was a state or two away and I had to break probation to go get it and then found out someone was killed on it too....I think I'd take that as a sign to let it go.

It has nothing to do with tough and weak, it's just a different way of accepting reality.
For example: If I were to find out that a $50 bill in my wallet had been in someone else's when they died, should I give it away, throw it out the window, or use it to feed my kids?
There's likely alot of money that passes through our hands that's dirty or tragic somewhere in it's history, but what matters is HOW we come by it and how WE use it.

How many times have you passed sympathy wreaths, and flowers on the side of the road where someone has died? Do you not drive down that same road everyday?
Those dam roads killing people everyday.
