Cleaned out the 200s carb lastnight and its leaking gas out the overflow on the top now.....

The float and needle looked good and didn't seem to stick, any ideas on what else could be causing it, the bike still runs but the gas leaks out the hole and runs down the carb onto the motor..... until i turn the petcock back off of course...

float adjustment for sure , If you have a plastic float your s.o.l. My suggestion would be to spend $40 on a brand new carb from ebay and youll be good to go . They ebay carbs even have a metal frame for the float so you can adjust it down the road if needed . I beat my head up against a wall for weeks trying to figure out why my original carb was acting up and leaking fuel out the overflow non stop . Some people frown upon the knock off ebay carbs but ive been using them on all my trikes and they work great .

Its a few more dollars that I paid for mine but here it is , matches the original carb to a tee

Buy a $20 rebuild kit, adjust it properly and it should be fine. There should be no reason to get rid of the plastic float unless you broke the tang off that the float needle sits on.

It was cleaned properly and new gaskets installed, it just still leaks, the float tang, float and needle are all good, and all the jets where cleaned properly and work good, the bike runs great, its just spewing gas like the floats bad.... WEIRD

There's a difference between cleaning and rebuilding. Rebuilding replaces everything that's worn, which can be a lot of things in a carb. Just because it looks good doesn't mean it's good. Get a new float needle. I would do the same with the jets. Can you tell that the jets are still the size that is stamped on them just by looking at the size of the hole? I sure can't. I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just trying to help you get it running without pulling your hair out.

If your strapped then you need to try to adjust the floats somehow , chances are your set to high , I would think thats causing it to flood gas out . I have an extra float thats metal if you want it its your just PM me some shiping info .

Hey pull the bowl off, fill with gas till it almost spills over. If it comes out the overflow at the bottom, then the overflow tube, (brass tube molded into the bowl), may have a hole in it. Have had it happen at work, stumped us for a week the1st time it happened. I assume you are talking about the hole at the bottom of the carb bowl is where it's leaking from correct? There should be no overflow on the top of the carb, it's a vent. If gas comes out that hose, you got major problems, not likely float related.

Im def. not talking about the hole at the bottom of the float bowl, but rather the "hole" on the side thats right above the choke lever (not where the gas line goes but to the left of that).... Is that bad????

No gas shoudl ever come from there. I have no idea what could be causing it to get that high, is it a steady stream or like a vapor kinda leak? May just not be venting right?

Its a steady stream of gas that comes out until i shut the petcock off again, happens weather its running or not....

I have no freaking idea, then. Maybe the port that lets fuel get from the inlet port to the bow is clogged. Forcing it into the mouth of the carb and out the port you mentioned. Does it run ok, or rich, when you rev without the air filter on does gas spit or run out the back of the carb? GAs has to be getting to the bowl or it wouldn't run. Pull carb again and use a bottle or hook tank to it and see if gas gets to the bowl, by leavng the drain screw open while you run gas through the carb.

Just ran out and opened up the drain screw on the bowl and its had gas in it.... It runs, ill pull the filter and check it out weather its running back out into the air box or not never thought to check that....

Well it wasn't running into the airbox but the filter was soaked with gas..... Took that off and the problem went away how odd.... Now lets see if i can get this pile of crap adjusted properly so it runs right, idle seems to be hanging just gotta find the right combo, apparently the 1-1/4 turns out on the mixture screw did not do it right cause the idle still wont adjust right, seems to be smoking a bit too.... Gotta love going through a barn find, it seems to be one thing after another with this bike....

Heres a video i took last night while i was in the middle of adjusting the carb. it was still running high in the video, but hey it runs not too bad for sitting in a barn forever before i got it!!

If you rev it up and the idle doesn't settle down, and no cables are sticking then turn the idle screw counterclockwise until it settles bac down after reving. If it won't idle like that then the idle-air needs adjusted. Start at the recommended turns out and turn in unitl te idle starts to go back down. Then turn back out until it reaches its highes point again. Then idle it down where you want to. I'd say your gas soaked air cleaner was getting gas sucked out of it into the carb and the port was getting filled with gas. MAke sure none of your crank vents are clogged or closed off. Learned that the hard way on a VTX1300. Had a used one at the shop that had a hypercharger on it, and it hissed a bit when you checked the oil, which is sometimes normal with these guys. Well I took it out one day for a cruise and at about 45-50 I heard a pop and the oil light came on. Pulled over, saw the puddle behind me. Looked under the engine, the damm filter had blown off. The person who installed the hypercharger, hadn't properly routed the crank vent, and it built up enough pressure to blow.
