I got a little 70 that has sat for 10 years. I had a friend clean the carb, I put fuel filters on the lines, got it running but it appears to be running rich and spits and sputters and won't idle. I tried messing with the carb adjustments with not much success. I think the idle screw is by the carb slide on the top and the air/fuel screw is down closer to the float bowl. (am I correct on this). What are the correct settings to start with on the screws?.

Friends dont let friends clean carbs. lol just kiddin,,,,, If you are positive carb is spotless, run mixture screw in slightly till it seats...very gently and run it out 1 7/8 to start, that is where I get my best mixture, yours may differ but it is a start. Idle screw is the one with the spring on it and it will vary when warmed up......you want a low low idle when cold as it will increase when warm. Go by ear when warm, just not so high ya' wheelie when you put er' in gear. Make sure air filter is clean and good gas, check flow from tank after sitting all that time, maybe rust and in petcock?? Points may be rusty and or needing replaced as well.... should get ya goin...good luck..
