Thanks guy for your comments! I ride it a little bit every day just for fun, here there is about 1 feet of snow everywhere so I can ride in the field, and the pavement isn't the best for the moment with the studed tire.Gearing is a little bit faster, the SX ratio is 3.5 to 1, the rear end I use is 3.0 to 1.Anyway,I will not pull trailer with this one hehe. It's the first time I have a reverse on a 2 wheel bike hehe.I will take more video of it when I will have more place to ride. Thanks!

The pipe is a cobra, stock exhaust was too big to fit behind the side panel. But I will maybe try to find something a little bit more quiet.
A good thing about this swap is that you can convert any 250sx in about 30 minutes in a 2 wheel, drive shaft fit like the stock one, fender clip in the stock location....the only thing to remove is the battery rack, the brake cable is also the stock SX cable
I will take some video of those in action and let you know guys!
Thanks for all your comment

Very nice job, was this a kit? what rear set up did you use? I also love to fabricate and would love to take on a project like this, also what are the plastics off of??? and detailed pictures?
atc500x
01-20-2010, 01:24 PM
It's not a kit, completly homemade.Differential and rear swingarm section are from a suzuki gs650 streetbike. The rear plstic are homemade, the section under the seat and the tool box are old 250sx fender, and the side panel are from a cr125 85 or 86 I think.Plastic welded and it's done.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this is just amazing!
Were the GS650 parts just remove from streetbike and drop onto the SX, or was there much cutting/welding/fabricating? This looks amazing and I want to do it.

VERRRRRY impressed looks like it is a totally bolt on kit.
I love the 250sx and now you can have the best of both worlds in 30min trike or 2 wheel whats your choice this is my next goal THANK YOU!!!!:beer:beer

It isn't bolt on, he did quite a bit of fab work to get it right but is talented and too modest to admit it :D
Beautiful work done very well!!

It's probably my BETTER trail bike for everyday riding, short wheel base do a very nice thing to ride in tight trail, and with the auto clutch and the reverse,it's a dream to ride.I have approx 350km done with it for the moment (hondaline speedo installed) without any problem, just kick and ride.Top speed of 100km/h (62 mph) with the suzuki gearbox.

Love the video that thing sounds like a monster!!
Atc500X what sortta welding did you have to do? it looks like just the shock mounts? I am really interested in converting one of my own...

The exhaut is a cobra,I have modify the exhaust now,the cobra was loud,I removed the spark arrester and fit a stock SX spark arreter from a rusty exhaust. Now it's really quiet. Most of welds are TIG welded. Will take more picture tonight and will post it.

I am still really impressed and would love to build one.
What parts came off the GS650G? Was it just the swingarm, differential, and driveshaft? Or 'final drive' (or is that another term for differential??).
Also what did you use for a rear tire/rim and axle?
And are those rear shocks off the 650 as well? Thanks a lot!!!
By the way, I looked at those threads and you did an amazing job on the fenders and tank/frame cleaning up. Did you just paint them? They look as good/better than factory!!
atc500x
07-11-2010, 10:11 PM
Thanks for the comments,The final drive is from the gs650 and right and left section of the swingarm,I keep the SX part that goes to the frame and by chang they have the same diameter. The rear rim is from the SX,I cut 1 inch and weld it in the center to be able to center the wheel in the swingarm. The axle is a front axle from a 200es if I'm correct. The hub and backing plate are from a 250es.The drive shaft is a part of the gs650,and a part of the SX,Tire is 22x11-8.Shock are from a gs550e.Plastic are painted, the white section in the side panel are adhesive tape. The rear fender is a part of a broken 200es front fender.I built the complete bike, and after completly dismantle to sandblast everything
I'm very curious how much I could sell the whole setup on ebay, except for the upper shock mount, the swingarm and the seat/fender is a direct bolt on to any SX in 30 minutes.

Any plans for fitting a battery anywhere for electric start?
And when you cut 1", was that from the swingarm or around the center of rim? Looks like the middle piece of rim (from the GS650?) is welded there, and then I assume connected to the brake drum?
Looks real good. What type of paint did you use for tank/fenders, and did you clearcoat to make them shine?
atc500x
07-11-2010, 11:08 PM
I have a battery under the seat to help light and indicators,I bought the sx with a bad starter and gear so I completly remove it to save weight,The battery could be installed in the trunk too.I cut 1 inch in the center of the rim,on the brake side to change the offset. The part welded to the rim that hold the spline for the final drive is a old sprocket, welded to the rim,and bolt the parts on it.The 250es hub is bolted in the stock holes of the SX rim.Paint is an enamel with 2 clear coat.Brake cable is the stock SX

That SX is awesome I been trying to figure out how to do it with the drive shaft, did you use the swing arm from a honda shadow or something like that.
atc500x
12-12-2010, 07:06 PM
front section of the swingarm is the stock SX,the rear is from the gs650,with the gearbox, drive shaft is also the same,250sx and gs650 welded
