im working on rebuilding my z. i plan on powdercoating the motor in the matte black powder from harbor frieght.
my question is. i want to polish part of my clutch cover and powdercoat the rest.
how would i do that?
what i want to do....is polish just that circle...and possibly keep the yamaha black

tape it off with high temp tape before you powder and bake,or send it to me and I will have it done for you,at a reasonable cost ofcourse.... ;-)

haha where can i get high temp tape? would that aluminum tape work?
i can do it...im just new to powdercoating so i wasnt sure lol

Slightly off topic, but once you've repaired/rebuilt a frame and are going to the trouble of powder coating, could you do a hot dip galvanize first to prevent any future rust problems? - or would there be issues with putting the powder coat over the top?
Just wondering...

so i guess i cant use the aluminum exhaust tape? where can i get it? would harbor frieght carry it

Its an aluminum part so no rust in the future. As another alternative you could powder the whole thing and just polish YAMAHA, seems that it would be hard to get the circle to look "right".

i thought of doing that too......but id rather have a little bit more polished parts.
and if by "right" you mean "a perfect circle" then i shouldnt have a problem achieving that.
ive been painting for about 6 years now and ive been good with the whole...masking off
