Hello everyone, I'm brand new to the forums, but not to the ATC's lol. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone new the stock timing on an ATC 185, I've never messed with the timing but I am currently putting my top end on a new transmission and I dont know the stock timing or even how to make the timing right. So, i have to say i am a little stuck on how in the hell to go about this, Any info is greatly appreciated...THANKS!

EDIT: Oh, and I might add that I refuse to pay someone to do it for me, so don't recomend getting it professionaly done, because I just flat out dont have the money for that.

ive rebuilt the top end of other machines, never an atc and im taking 2 blown motors and making one good one, man honestly i know NOTHING about the timing with the valves and stuff, i would normally just mark everything but it would seem that by using a different transmission the sprocket for the cam shaft will be in a different position than the one on mine, thus screwing up my timing. and i tried those manuals, there just so much in there that i cant find what i need

It's very easy , You have a "T" for timing on the flywheel, line the mark next to the " T" to the arrow on the casing, the arrow is shaped like a triangle, next your top timing gear will have a small circle on it, line that circle to the arrow/triangle on the valve cover. Your piston should be at the top of the cylinder and your cam should have the lobes down and your flywheel mark ' T" and the top timing gear should be lined up together,,hope this helps, you may need a manual with pictures if you have any more problems with the timing.

Make sure you have the timing right or you will bend a valve, you can be off a one tooth or 2 but any more than that can bend a valve. When trying to pull start and it will not run, it will just backfire if you are off a tooth or so.
