press your stem out, have it pressed into the new tripples. why do you need an extra .75 of tavel?

If im not mistaken, the 85+ year R forks are bigger in diameter as well. Side wayz, run some progressive springs and spacers if you need it in them 85 Forks and youll be golden.

Well when I got the 84R th left fork was bent a lil, and thats what I ran with at Summit. I did buy a set of so called 84R forks and tripples from Ebay but when I got them they where 84 200x. So I have a set of 85 forks with just the upper tripple, or I have the 200x complete set. What do you think I shoild do?

When you say press the stem out, you mean just take the 85R stem out of the tripples and use my stem from the 84R? Thanks.

Sidewayz,

I run 85/86 front end on my 84 R. Here is all I did:

Remove steering stops from frame (either grind or cut) - install complete 85/86 250R front end (triples, forks, wheel, axle - everything). then once all is in place - re-weld new steering stops on. I find the 3rd Gen 250R forks to be perfect on my air cooler. Pretty easy mod too - if you have all the parts - it is a one night job.

they work awesome for choppy terrain as well as BIG jumps

yes that what i always did when swaping front ends on sportbikes. or do what tim said, if he did it already sounds like a easy mod.

if you wanna get rid of your old R or 200x stuff PM me a price, i might buy it for a conversion project.
