Well the weekend was razzing around and had some ice built up on the peg, and well after hitting a bump and my foot slipped off, andi got dragged beneath the bike basically running over my foot. That didnt bother me untill i seen what happened to my fender which was near mint conditon. The way i figure it was it was almost -30 out and that cold weather, and the fact i left the bike out all night in the frost made the plastic brittle? Just figured id vent my frustration ( although it was my fault) and show a pic of the carnage :P

i broke my back because i was going like 60ish on my 400ex and some muddy ruts pulled me over to the right and my foot slipped and i ended up turning into a tree, broke 3 vertebrae, so it could be a little worse. are you gonna replace the plastics?
i wont own a quad without nerf bars now, except for my trike of course, but i havent had any problems with that so its all good.

you need to take the grinder to those and sharpen them up. It gives your feet a better grip. I've done this to a few sets of mine.

or take an arc welder and slide the stick across the tips of the spikes, it will add a bit of bite to the teeth.

Take a file or a cut off wheel and sharpen them up.

What you need is a set like these.

I have those on my Tri-Z. You don't slip off, and you don't want to, they do cut.

I'll tell ya.......... I like those pegs that guys are making up but, they are too sharp. Someone is gonna get bit sooner or later whether they are wearing MX boots or not and it isn't gonna be pretty.

There has to be a happy medium where your foot feels secure, but the peg won't nearly kill you in the right conditions. I don't like that they aren't hinged either......

Just my opinion, like Tim said, "sharpen them up". Just don't make them so crazy sharp that your hand can feel how sharp they are, THAT I'm gonna stay away from :D

At least you didn't fall into studded tires spinning at 60 mph, that hurts! Kind of making love to a blender, or a belt sander x 10.

Im going to tell you that you got off easy!

I will send you a picture through pm (3WW staff would delete if I posted it) of my brothers leg after a similar situation. His foot slid off the foot peg, and the tire grabbed his foot, and shoved his shine straight into the foot peg. 8 hours in the emergency room, an installed drain, and 33 stitches later he was home.

Nasty nasty nasty wound if anybody wants to see some real carnage.

It really sucks about your fenders, but it could have been much much much worse!!!!!!!!!

That really does suck though!

And seriously, operators are on stand by if you want to see a horrible picture.................

I did the same thing on my ytm-200 a few winters ago. It was about -10 and I was riding on the river. Foot slipped off, I proceeded to run my leg over and break the plastic of the MINT rear fenders. I wasn't even pissed about my leg, and ankle just the mint fender I just destroyed.

Had an expericne with something like that, Giving a buddy a push who drove into a snow bank, The car suddently grabbed while spinning out and had the tire run my foot over.

Tell me about it. Ive seen guys get hurt bad with the same type of inncenedent. Luckily ( knock on wood) i've escaped major injury, but I 've been in a lot of situations that should of been much worse then they turned out. I consider myself lucky alot.

^^ I think those are the HRE pegs. Fantastic piece of work, nothing needs to be said about strength/fitment.

You need a nice sideshot of those. They look like a 5/16th endmill went through the plates, dialed over and plunged again which left a sharp edge or half of a circle; I call em "Pain Pegs....."

I would dull them up before I ran them, thats just me.

I'd say HRE could do whatever possible if you wanted them less sharp.

To each there own, but, you won't lose your footing with these puppies!! :D

Those are fine quality German foot pegs made by Hagen! He goes by GreenBoy on here and can be found at Trikefest once a year :)
