heli-coils work great, in fact a lot of race teams purposely put in heli-coil kits as the threads hold longer.

I have a footpeg mount hole on my 350 that needs helicoiled... so I have to buy an entire kit for 1 hole? :(
I was hoping I could just buy the insert and use my own bits and stuff...

I don't suggest heli-coil kits for footpegs........ Your really trusting that thread for every jump you land off of.

The other Time-serts etc are a better product, but with the helicoils, all I do is buy the tap and helicoil. I have every drill size imaginable and I install hem with a good flat tipped screwdriver which "winds them up" as I install them. If they are too long, I Dremel off the excess and snap the "install ring end" with a solid 1/8th, 1/4 or 5/16ths pin punch.

So, it costs me 1.50$ for the helicoil and 13$ for the helicoil tap; NOT 50$ for a "helicoil kit". I have just about every size now that I've built up over time.

But, it's also based on what peiple have for tools and also there skill level. It't not hard to do, but it isn't a stroll through the park either.......
