Could someone please explain to me how the 2 stroke pipe works and what the sections are? Never have understood this one. Skinny, fat, skinny. WTF ?!?!?! They sure do sound cool, though !!! Thx for info. ;)

Okay, here's what I know about it...

The problem with 2-strokes is that some of the fresh air and fuel mix goes out with the exhaust. A tuned pipe is shaped so that some of the previous exhaust pulse bounces off the end and goes back toward the engine. This pulse hits just as fresh air and fuel start coming out the exhaust port, shoving it back into the engine where it gets burned, producing more power.

Tuned pipes only work well at one RPM setting, which is why you can tell when an engine is "on the pipe..." It really starts to sing.

ok...the fresh air fuel thing you mentioned...would that be why they burn so much more fuel than a 4 stroke? what does the fat part of the pipe do and what is a spark arrester ?!?!?!
