so on my 84 atc110 i have the engine cover off and the flywheel, stator all taken off. anyway my chain tensioner appears to be lose, the rod that looks like its suppose to be pushing on the black tab to push the tensioner into the chain is not close to touching.
I took out the 14mm bolt right below the sticks out by the foot peg, found a flat head screw underneath, when i spin it either way it did nothing, so i took it out and like a 10mm plug thing came out with the screw and then found 2 springs which i took out. now the rod that you would think slides up with the springs is solid and wont budge, i have the springs out and everything and this rod wont slide out or anything. is there something else in there keeping it from moving? and is this rod suppose to slide up to put tension on the tensioner? is mine just jammed or something? i can take pictures if needed, im sure you guys have seen this before.
how do u adjust the cam chain tensioner? i have this all torn down to replace the front sprocket and found it like this and dont wanna close it up till its right.

thankyou guys very much

Have you read the manual?

There should be a small bolt that locks the rod once it's ajusted.

loosen it,tighten the chain and tighten the lock bolt.

the rod that puts tension on the black tab part to push on the chain roller was jammed, got it out and nothing seems to be damaged... slides good now and have it all adjusted. i think past owners thought it was a oil drain bolt and adjusted it wrong and screwed it all up, but its all good now, and yeah mike, i have 2 manuals lol just no info on that rod that was jammed. haha i got the manuals from this website, they both kinda suck. haha better than nothing i must say though.

Alot of people mistake it for oil drain and en dup not putting th pieces in the correct order or leaving parts out. You did follow the correct assembly right. Was it makin noise before your tore into it?

haha yeah it was makin a noise, but i must say it very well may have been like this the whole time we owned it and i have just assumed thats the normal sound it makes (this was our first time around the a** end of the engine, we have rebuilt the top end though) so once i get my rear sprocket in ill fire it up and see if it runs quieter.
