The dnr stopped and was playing 100 questions with me and my buddy. I noticed his track. Man our tax $$ is wasted well. He had these 2 rods. One on each side, at the center of the track, sticking out dragging in the snow he said were to "kick snow up on the trails." Any Idea what Im talking about? what they are called???

There ice/snow scratchers. When the trail is hard-packed, they kick up snow and ice on to the heat exchangers so the engine does not overheat. Some people think you can run a liquid cooled sled anytime, summer or winter just because its liquid cooled. Not true....they need snow to cool....normally the track would carry up enough snow to cool the exchangers (locate on the bottom side of the tunnel/foot boards) except on very hard pack or glare ice trail conditions. This is were the scratchers come in to play. They also help keep the slides lubricated too.
