Sometime in the last week I got this dent. Not even sure how it happened! Is there a trick to getting this kind of minor dent out? I know the tank isn't mint or anything, but I would like to see if I can get it back as close to normal as possible.

Body shops have those suction cups to pull dents like that. I bet if you went down to the private ma and pa body shop with cash they would do it no problem.

If a suction cup dent puller won't work, find a paintless dent repair shop. They'll work that out from the inside. I would contact them first to see if it needs to be on the bike while they're working on it though.

By the time I'm done with a body shop, I could just buy another tank, I think. At least that's my opinion of body shop prices, maybe it's not accurate! I was thinking maybe I could find one of those suction cup dent pullers at Harbor Freight. Otherwise, I had another crazy idea...what about draining the tank and then sticking my air compressor hose on the fuel line? Anyone ever tried that one?

Great idea from Thorpe in this thread.

get a large wooden dowel rod that will fit into the tank and hammer it out softly from the inside with a 2x4 on the dowel. I uncaved a 125M tank with that method.

If you don't want to pay body shop prices, do a Google search for dry ice dent removal.

just sell the tank on ebay. you'll get over 100 for it, then buy a plastic one and youll never have to worry about it again. its much easier on the knees when riding too

I used a long crow bar to pop out a dent in my Big Red tank

the dry ice idea is good. I would also try pressurized air since it is not creased.

i done it before with air pressure but you have to be very careful. you will do much more harm than good if you get carried away.
