Just bought a basketcase of a 200x today off a guy and it has a goki starter on it. He said it's never worker since he bought the 200x. States he attempted to get it to work by hooking jumper cables to it and his truck battery but it didn't move. I haven't gotten into the bike yet to see what all of it's issues are, but it would be nice to get this thing to work. If it is truly not working, can the starter motor be rebuilt? Anywhere to get replacement parts since I've read previously where goki support for these older assemblies is nil. Any suggestions before I start tearing into the bike?

Goki still make the spare parts for all there starters apart from the 200x they had problem with it from day one and dropped it after a few years....

Yeah. I read a thread where somebody emailed goki about running another batch of the 200x starters and they said they had too many problems. I'll have to read up on what the problems were as it looks like a lot of people still want one.

Goki doesn't carry the parts for the 200x. I called Goki and several of their sellers looking for a 200X ring gear. There are none. But I assume the starter itself is the same across the board. I would say as long as the mount and the ring gear are okay it is rebuildable.

I too believe that any good starter rebuilder can repair the starter itself. If you ground it and put a good amperage 12V connection directly to it, it ought to turn.

I'd remove it and make sure the ring gear, any one way bearing isn't binding it up.

IDT most trike/quad starters "throw out" the pinion gear like an automobile would, I think they freewheel all the time and the pinion gear is always running on the ring gear, it just grabs when it turns over - just my thoughts.......Could be wrong, who knows............
