so i decided after riding the 500 for the last couple weeks, after i get back from oaklahoma i want to tear it down abd make rediculous amounts of hp with it.obviously i know that a good port job, pipe, carb and the rest of the normal bolts ons are a good starting point, but what can i do to it to make some serious hp?the jug that is on it now looks to have a nice port job done, but w/o knowing who did it or the flow #'s its really hard to know if it is a quality job.i would like to stay clear of alcohol, and nitrous.jemoco will be getting my pipe to duplicate and improve on,i already have a 39pwk carb,so wher do i go from here.it will only be used on the ice and in the sand, not nessasarily for drag racing only, but something that just screams in almost any situation

Danimal, I was checking out your sig. Looks like you like your powerful toys, just like me :)
Hard to imagine you want even more power out of a tecate with a KX500 motor in it :)
BTW does the tecate 500 beat your modded banshee? (modded banshees are sweet BTW.... I had one but sold it :(
As for the car..... was the 9.25@156mph for the quarter mile? If so, then it is only 1 second slower than the Yamaha R1 street bike that I owned a couple of years ago. Now THAT is impressive!!!

yeah I think that i need anintervention:)im not sure if the T3 is faster than my banshee,i havent rode them back to back yet, however my intitial feeling is that the banshee is faster,we'll see.yeah the car did that the first time down the track on a slick,im sure if i kept pushing it that i could have gotten an 8sec pass out of it,considering that pass was only at 20 pounds of boost, and ive run it up to 25 on the dyno.bikes are crazy fast,i do love the looks on their faces when i do a burnout past them at 120mph on the interstates:)

There's a board member on here named hondawasaki. He knows some serious stuff about making retarded HP with the KX500 engine. I talked with him through PM's a while back and he was talking about 115 HP or something ridiculous. I haven't seen him post lately, but you could shoot him a message.

There's several guys over at KXRiders that are doing hi HP KX 500 motors.
Doesn't Jon over at Jemco already make a conversion pipe??

Doesn't Jon over at Jemco already make a conversion pipe??ive been in contact with him since i started the project and he said no,that i would have to send himmy modded K5 pipe with a bunch of pics and he could build me one,at the same time he was going to make jig so that people that want to do this swap in the future have a direct bolt in pipe

Ditching the 39 and going with a 44mm Lectron or Mikuni would be a step in the right direction IMO. HH

Stewart at KXriders builds the motor for the fastest KX500 in the world. A windowed piston is one of the mods. Porting is a must. Look there for the info or just send your motor to him.

Wow, your car can smoke the tires at 120 MPH?
My R1 woulda got smoked badly at those speeds by your car without a doubt. Pretty crazy :)
Once my bike would hit about 150 MPH it wouldn't accelerate NEARLY as fast. The difference was like night and day. There was just way to much wind resistance, and not nearly enough weight to the bike (or more importantly, torque).
Once you went over 150 MPH on it, it felt like the brakes were on....
I never got it past 171 MPH (4th gear) becuase of this. Especially becuase in VT there is never any room to go very fast. Kinda sucks.
What have you had your car up to? Like 220? LOL!!

I would check out a KX500 forum, those KX guys dont F around. I know windowing the piston in those makes a difference of a couple hp.....

yeah it does it pretty easily,on 315 drag radials to boot:)it really pulls ight a freight train on the top end, figure if it goes mid 150's in the 1/4 it mph's really well.the speedo stops at 165 and i can tell you that i have well exceeded that speed more than once,of corse this was done at 3am on a divided wall 4 lane interstate and there was literally not another car in site.i have read alot about the aero-dynamics of a bike and what you say is very consistant of what i have read, that at around 150 range they are punching too big of a hole in the air to really accelerate much past that, unless they are makeing serious hp.
anyways, thanks for the hepl gys i have been doing alot of reading on Kxriders and have some ideas brewing ill keep you posted when i start the build, meanwhile if anyone has any other ideas throw them my way
