Considering buying a 95 yamaha banshee 350X

Hey guys,
I recently for the past year been buying atc up the wazzu, so far I have 5, I had the opportunity to test drive a banshee & I completely fell in love with it. i love the power & the way it handles. When i drive my atc's they feel sluggish. I have the opportunity to buy it for a $1000. It's a 95 with very low hours & in mint stock condition. They owner has only taken it out to the sand no more than 2 times. This happens to be the yellow & purple model so I believe it's a 95. I have a feeling that if I get it, I won't be touching the atc anymore..

if your trikes are like the ones in your pic they are gonna feel slow compaired to a banshee. a grand is a good price i think, i was told buy guys years ago if you ring banshees once a year you cut down on alot of problems. also on dirtwheels it says alot of common problems with banshees and the air box was one, it had alot of good tips to get them set up right but if he was dunning hes prob already been done.

ive been having a banshee itch latley also, not sure why but i just bought a 200x and am finishing up a 300ex in the garage.

Buy it. Banshee's are a blast to ride.

I had a banshee, if your gonna buy it don't modify it to much or it will become a huge headache.

They run hot, I recomend a cool head asap. Also get an aftermarket airbox to eliminate and dirt leaks.

That's what i used to have same color and year. Also the stock cranks go on banshee's so if the motor does blow up on ya get an aftermarket one asap that's trued and welded. Here's a few pics of the girl. Wish i still had her.

I have had a handful of Banshee's over the years.
I still have one, it is relatively modified. Shaved Head, port work, DMC 916's and It has the same crank and top end on it from when I built it 7 years ago.
They are reliable, you just have to attack the weak points of them.
Seal the filter at the box, seal the intake tubes, Seal the stator cover and wire harness for the stator, dont take them in deep water or heavy mud, and they are fine.

Yes they do run a lil hot, depending on set-up. IMO, you will benift more from a larger radiator, than a coolhead,and they are about the same price.

But dont buy a 95 and expect it to be all perfect. It is 15 years old, and probably due for a heavy round of maitenance.Especially if the previous owner did not set the bike up correctly.
If you have to start the thing with starting fluid, there is a good chance that the crank and top end is bad.
If you get it PM me and I can help you with sealing all that stuff up.You dont have to buy a 100$ airfilter system.You can mod the OEM filter and cage to get the pro flow sealed set-up for about $30 bucks.

BTW..I love the purple ones.

yes banshees are alot of fun and are just as reliable as any other atv or atc. ive had mine for about 3 years with noe problems (knock on wood lol). check the compression on it before you buy. ideal compression is around 130ish depending on elevation.

oh yeah and ditch the airbox unless you ride in alot of water and mud.
