Seems like all the build threads on here are all "race" trikes. Lets see your 200's and big reds. Havent had much time to work on mine yet, last customers truck should leave tomorrow so ill have time for the trike know. Only done some service on it so far, pulled the racks off. Some stuff ive been thinking of doing, bigger pipe, stepping up to a 30mm carb and big intake, some kind of high flow filter, clean the head up, bigger cam(any truth to the cr200 cams being an upgrade?), maybe some wheel spacers and hang the dirt dogs out lol. I have a 82 ATC200. Whats done to yours? anybody but a kick starter on theres? post some pics and give me other ideas on what i can do.

What do you consider modding? You can't mod the engine too much cause the centrifugal clutches don't always take well to alot of power. That's why people mostly mod what you call "race" trikes. But how about something like this. Is this modded enough. They are older pictures, but they still seem popular. 200x cam and exhaust. I've added a Uni Filter and Pre Filter since the pics were taken. Aftermarket suspension front and aftermarket bolt-on suspension rear. I wanted a little extra power but didn't want to kill my reliability. She moves out pretty good and rides soft and sweet. It's not as good as 200x suspension, but a major improvement over the old "fillings shaker" hardtail.

Badass! Very nice. Who makes the rear swing arm setup?

I never really found out who makes this kit. They are way more uncommon than the weld on suspension kits which aren't very common in themselves. It's a blast to ride. It doesn't have the ride of a 200x, but it beats the heck out of our regular hardtail ride that's for sure. And you just can't beat the coolness factor. It draws attention wherever it goes. I really need to get some new pics with the steel tank on it and the Hi Flite desert seat.

That poor trike, when did it last get ridden? I know a place, right across the street from me where we can take it(hint, hint)& my SX. Sorry to rob the thread, but I think it's high time Pat went for a ride. He works WAAAAY too many hours & when he isn't at work, he's wrenching on his many trikes, or sleeping.

Back in the day, we had classes for every machine to race in. The first machine I raced(flattrack in '85) was an '85 YTM 200ERN Yamahauler with a Kerker exhaust and a DG cam. Don't laugh....with the OEM tires on it it would walk away from a mild '85 200X on top-end(another member here can attest to that.
The next machine I raced was an '83 225DX with Bassani exhaust and homemade 4" wheel spacers on each side. I cased a 30-foot double and bent the rear axle into a dictinct "U" shape...lol......but I doubled that jump many times before that.

I think the mods for utes are few and far in between. I try hard to keep mine stock, since it's a "garage" survivor (sat in a garage for 24 years and is MINT!), in fact the first week I got it, I blew one of the original tires :( , which still had the original red mark around the circumference. After waiting 3 months for an original tire from Honda, I gave up waiting and bought new tires for it. Ass end feels too high now, and seems to run rougher on the stiffer tires. I'm hoping to get an original tire eventually...

Mine is all custom with some engine work. really flies. its an 81 185S frame and rear end with an 83 200E, that was bored a little and cammed (not shown) with 200E forks and a full custom exhaust from the header back. The swinger is 100% custom made by myself about 4 or 5"+

It's been done. 200x engine too. I know about the laydown 200x engine. Do a search on here. The guy with the laydown 250r engine is mart. The man behind the laydown 200x engine is greenhuman. The laydown 200x engine is also in North America now, beware. Hahahahaha. Best I could do for a sinister laugh. LOL

Where did you get your aftermarket suspension?

3wheelmecca, I wish you would get some better pics of your trike in the daylight so I could getter a better look at your handywork.
bigmacmonday, believe it or not I found the bolt on kit on ebay several years ago as well as the 2 weld on suspension kits that I have had. I've found all my current trikes either on ebay or on here. You just have to be fast on the draw and willing to travel sometimes. And once you have been on here for awhile and some folks have had favorable dealings with you in the classifieds section, on occasion a great boardmember may offer you something supercool for sale, be it a trike or a cool part or a neat service that they perform. And it also helps to keep some cash in the bank just in case. I've met some really cool people on here that have been a big help in either finding goodies or who have helped me with things that I don't have the tools or experience to do. And I've met some cool people just through those transactions even though I have never met them in person. I hope you have the same luck as me and that you are another great new board member.

Is this the exhaust? I was thinkin about it, but it's dented and beat lookin! That don't always mean much tho! The seller has good feed back, but that thing still looks beat!

Im thinking about it. Not real heavy modding, maybe just a little more "pep" for my riding. Maybe throw in a cam, jet kit, aftermarket exhaust and open airbox. Trying to keep the stock piston

That exhaust has the same taper/look as a Sand Scorcher, but I can't say that it is for sure because there were a couple more companies putting them out that looked the same. Almost like one builder supplier a few different companies with pipes....which is known to have happened. It seems like JSC(Johnny's Speed and Chrome) sold one with that taper also.
I will say that it looks 100% like a Sand Scorcher.....and I'd buy it if I had something to put it on.

Now the hamsters in my head are spinning the wheel! LOL. Someone wanna get some measurements & connection points for the hardtail > swinger swap? Looks like I might have to upgrade my 200.... project update coming soon.
