Hello,

I have been offered a '1985 Yamaha 225 3 wheeler' for $150. All I have been told is that is still has original headlight and all plastics are good.

I can't find out, however, what the difference is between the 225 DX and the 225 DG as well as the YTM225.

I am not sure how to differentiate between them to ID which he has. I am hoping for something with full suspension, reverse, and elec. start if possible. Do any of these have it?

Thanks a lot

Theres a DX without reverse or a DR with reverse. Sometimes theres an extra letter like DRN to show the year. But theres only 2 models and they both have electric start and full suspension just the DX has no reverse. Id pick it up for 150.

I have yet to hear if it's complete/running. But chances are I can get it running.

The YTM - Is that not a 1985 model? and is reverse the only difference between the other two? If so, I would really hope for the DR, but I would settle for anything at that price. Not too often that I see Yamaha trikes.

The YTM is kinda like the ATC of Honda, but I think it stands for yamaha tri moto

Ah thanks for the info, that explains it pretty well.

My only confusion left is telling a DR and DX apart, do I just look near the gear shifter for a 'R' or 'Reverse' or is there some other way to tell? Thanks

hey man i just picked up a 84 dx and an 85 dr last week. the dr has a shift lever on the case right by the pull start. they are a pretty fun bike. just rode the dx for the first time yesterday and had a blast. still need to get the dr running. they are both all original and in very good shape

There's a separate reverse lever on the left side of the machine.
