Following the official service manual i pulled apart and replaced the shifter rod on my 200s because the teeth on mine were all warn down. After putting the whole half of the engine back together it was very loose moving and had alot of play. Then when i would shift i would get no return on my shifter it would just sit there i had to jiggle it with my foot.
I then started over pulling the rod back out and everything, this time moving the spring on the shift rod to a different place them moving some things and repaired it once again.
I now have the engine all back together and the shift rod is nice and tight but it still has play where when i shift up or down the shifter does not return to the original position (theres no snap back) i still have to jiggle it with my foot. Also when i do shift it seems to take alot more energy then it used to i almost have to slam on it to shift it.
Any body ever gone through this or could help as to why???
