Anyone happen to know what the amperage or wattage is produced from the lighting and ignition coils?

and perhaps what is supposed to go to the battery, amperage wise.

..and how much of what goes from the stator coil to the ignition.

ac? dc? 200 watts?

thanks

It depends on the machine, some have just enough to run the stock lighting and others put out a few hundred watts so more lights can be easily added. The factory manual gives it in the specs, the Clymer one might too.

oh, ok.
Musta missed it.

For the 84 bigreds, I see 200 ohms for the stator coil resistance but no real output "voltage" or amperage specs

These things are usually checked when they dont work. I have one ready to run so I'll promise myself to check whatever I can
while it's actually working.

There really isn't too much to check. The wattage they give is a maximum output, not something you can check. I would check the voltage with it running a little above idle. I'd imagine you should see around 14V and maybe a little more.

may be a little off topic but I just fired a 250 up with new battery.

up off idle it's throwing 1 fat 13+ volts.
at low idle the voltage goes up, prob because higher revs use more current.(?)

Anyway it works and we gots work to do.

Gonna drag a spike tooth harrow to fix a road and drag some logs out for our last batch of firewood.

Yay springtime.
