Hey i just bought a Yamaha 225DX for 200$. this is my first three wheeler. It runs but with a very rough idle, have to keep on the throttle to keep it runnin and it will only start with a touch of ether.. instead of running it the way it is, I wanna do the right thing and rebuild it ground up. not sure what year it is though.. any help or information on it would be very usefull, ( parts websites for gaskets and seals etc..)(is there a difference betweeen a DX and DR?). i willl post some pics very soon before i start and continue to build her up..
I did find one thing usefull so far, here is a link... my trike looks EXACTLY like this!!! (but not as clean..) thanks everyone!!

yeah clean the carb, change the plug, change engine and dif oil, and make shure it has fresh gas and the screen isnt plugged in the tank this willl make your trike a happy trike. its just something i always do as soon as i get them. heres a link to a manual http://72.52.143.80/~trikes/ytm200&225-fm200_clymer_manual.pdf

DX and DR are almost the same, only thing is the DR has reverse.
For the idling issue, that sounds like a carb problem. It could be that your idle is set too low. If that's the case, 1/4 of a turn with a screwdriver should fix that.
I would suggest taking off the carburetor, cleaning it out and resetting it all to stock/factory settings. You should be able to find a manual through this website with those settings. $200 is a great price, especially if it has elec. start and full suspension, and is running. There's no need to do a full rebuild if it's running right and a carb cleaning is all that's due.

big yeller is exactly right
do those things first and if you have no luck then start looking for other options
