1983 185s Carb overflowing

Hi guys.I picked up a 185s a month back and I got it running but the carb is overflowing out the overflow tube.This is a brand new carb that I have not open up at all.I know it seems like a stuck float but the trike idles fine and runs great.It is blowing some smoke so I think it may be getting too much fuel.I have the fuel/air screw at 1 and a half out.My old carb has that fuel cavitation collar but I do not know if the new one does.Could this be the problem?Thanks.

Check the jet size and float setting...

is the little tab on the float that pushes on the needle metal on your new carb, if so just bend that tab up about 1/16th of an inch and that should stop it from over flowing but still let your bowl fill all the way
