I'm needing a new drive shaft for my 86 250sx and noticed the part # on the yoke is different from an 85 to 86,anyone know if they still can be swapped? Theres a ton of 85 shafts but hardly any for 86's around.

I've seen no visible changed in 85/86/87 driveshafts....

The Big Red isn't the same at all though....

Are you sure it's the same? The driveshaft from an '86 TRX250 is about three inches longer than one from an '85 ATC250SX.

I don't recall if both ends are lengthened or just one side.

i have the whole rear swingarm, axle and diff from a 85 trx in my 85 250 sx i mixed up the years, the swingarm is the same for that year and attaches to the drive with the same boot. unless i got a trx that had a sx swingarm installed. now i have another trx that the swingarm is diffrent i will have to post pics of the two styles and see if anyone knows.

The problem is finding a good drive shaft. There out there but you will have to look. This is a vital sealing point of the rear end.

This is what most look like.
