My '85 Tecate project is rolling right along (I'll snap some pics this afternoon) and I'm down to securing plastics for it. I've had no luck over the past month finding a front fender, and no way in hell I'm dropping $400-$500 for a nos fender. I've found maier rears reasonably but I can't find a front anywhere. Will an '86-'87 fit without looking too out of place?

To bad you missed the pre-order of green 85-86 250r front fenders. They look sweet, and should be a fine replacement for the wide look original.

The 86 fender will work on the 85 with some minor mods in the bolt mounting areas, mine came that way but I changed it! It looks ok, but its not perfect as it is slightly narrower where the plastic is cut away for the left side fork tube!

Yeah, I caught that thread just yesterday. I'm always a bit too late it seems. I guess I'll keep my eyes peeled for the right front fender seeing as I have a few weeks of work ahead of me yet. Tecate 50; was it a thread by you that I read about inverts from a YZ 85 on the Tecate? Obviously new triples would need to be made, but is there anything else major involved in the swap? That mod allows for a skinny front tire set up, correct?

Custom (billet) trees with a steering stem pressed out of an 86 Tecate, as the 85 stem is welded in place, 86 Honda 250r hub and rim assembly, (Green 250r fender), with the stock rake! I'm using the YZ85 brake caliper and rotor. You can contact Jason Hall on the site for further details......he is doing all the fabricating! Hope this helps.......as I have no clue how he does this stuff....lol!

Thanks for the info, I'm seriously considering this option.

Its pricey when it comes to retrieving the forks.....but it will look trick and be well worth it to me!

Have you and Jason decided what you are going to do with the radiator? I'm interested in this as well.

I talked with him the other day.....he said it won't be an issue! The Radiator will remain in place, fabbed up and tapped to the new billet trees! The front end wont be (drastically) narrower, so the radiator and the number plate will still mount up with no problems....according to him! I think he will simply drill and tap the rad mounts where ever he wishes, so the radiator will still be centered with the trees! My number plate fits right on an 86 Tecate front end which is also narrow.....the radiator has plenty of clearance between it and the plastic number plate! So all in all I dont think it is gonna be an issue.......time will tell!

One good thing is that Jason has his 85 up there with him.....so mocking it up will be a lot simpler!

Hopefully he will keep the specs of the triple trees to make it easier to fab them up for us down the road. It sure is nice having guys like Jason around to make this possible.

Oh he will no worries there....im the ginnie pig! He wants do this for his 85! The key was to get in on those (green) 250r front fenders! I picked up two of them.....
