thinking about buying?

hey everyone. im kind of new to the four wheeler thing been riding 3wheelers for a little while though, i had a guy i know pretty well offer me a 97 polaris xplorer 400 4x4 for a thousand dollars, it has less than 500 hrs on it and brand new tires its in near perfect condition, he only wants to sell it cuz he hasnt ridden it in like 3 or 4 yrs. it wont start but im figuring varnished carb he said the only problem he ever had is it blows all the light bulbs in the thing if the battery goes dead, isthis common? can it be fixed? and is it worth buying or not?

He probably blows the light bulbs trying to jump start it. Never jump it. Remove the battery and charge it. If it don't charge, then get a new battery. Never charge the battery while it is connected to the 4 wheeler.
Sounds like a good deal to me!
