I have no rear brakes. I can push the foot pedal all the way down and get nothing, or basically nothing. I have adjusted the cable to as tight as I dare and still have found no change. I have a manual ordered, but it's not here yet. Any suggestions as to my next step?

I have the same problem with mine. I lost my brakes when I was coming around a sharp corner and I stomped on my rear brakes and they gave out. Anyone got an idea what happend to me?

Maybe if I bring this back to the top we'll get some help this time, psyonide. Any input?

Your going to have to go inside to fix it, so you really need to go inside and look at it. Mechancial drum brakes are about a simple as you can get, and how they work should be obvious at a glance, so if you need a manual your probably going to have to pay the labor for a professional anyways. If you push the pedal and nothing happens, either your shoes need replaced, or the arm that fits on the splined shaft that goes into the drum needs to be rotated on the shaft to pull it farther. If you rotate it, and it pulls and brakes, but the brakes stick on, the shaft paddle is turning sideways due to insufficent shoe, and shoes need replaced. If the brakes "went out" suddenly, something broke inside, either a shoe spring, or the pads came off the shoes. Open it up, and look at it, and your cause will be obvious.

Thanks for the help Tim, I'm pretty sure (hope) I just need new shoes.
