So, the 200x motor I bought is pretty rusty inside, I still plan to fix it and everything, but I want a two stroke. I think I'll figure out a way to mount the Blaster motor into my 200x roller, the motor needs about as much work as my 200x does, so I figured why not? Has anyone done this? It would be good to get some tips.

seen a cr motor in a 200x that was cool but needed frame mods (cradle instead of the single down tube) if you want a two stroke buy a 250r!! lol

Yeah, I would love one, but I'm short on cash and this would be a sweet ride.

i was looking into doing a blaster swap on my 84 200x, i had al the messurements wrote down but lost the paper, i do remember the blaster motor is smaller in size than the 200x, only issue is the frame being in the way of the pipe, and the only pipes that may fit well for the blaster motor is a right side pipe.. lrd ,power pros f7,
blaster motor would be a riot in a 200x.. can make good power for cheap, head redesign, porting, right side pipe and bigger carb will throw you over 30hp, 240bb will throw it around 40ish, add a stroke to that and your lookin around mid 40s for hp

I've suggested this for years. The Blaster is plentiful and CHEAP. And Vito's has great kits for that motor.........

and a good porter, floteck, kennedy, wildcard and so on can make the blaster very stout in a small package its a shame the 86/87 200x's are not more plenty full as i think the 2nd gen x would be the ultimate swap chassie,
maybe come tax return time instead of buying a liquid R ill buy a 200x roller and a blaster motor, im a active member and a moderator on blasterforum, i got alot of knowlege on blasters and plenty of support from them on mods and hook ups on parts, i could make this swap happen and be a good performer for under $800-$1000
normally a extended winger on a 200x isnt nessisary, i think with a blaster swap it may be a a must have lol

I have the 85' 200X and a 96' blaster motor I have been staring at in the corner of my cave, This must be a sign that I need to get started on it .........
What was the story on the exhaust again? What is the pipe that you mentioned? "right side pipe.. lrd ,power pros f7,"

FMF, DG, Toomy, and Shearer all make left bend pipes for the blaster, same as the stock bend. Pretty much all the other pipes available are right bend pipes.

I have a 200x roller in my hands the blaster motor swap sounds awesome. You can always make your own motor mounts for the front and top of the motor they just bolt to the frame. the only thing you would have to worry about is the rear where the motor bolts through the swingarm right? Ive never been a huge fan of cutting stock motor mount out of trike frame it alway seems like your killing a good trike to me.Ive seen the motor swap with the elsinore motor that seemed like a half way easy swap as to bolting into the frame. anyone have a blaster motor or bottomend they can mock up in a 200x frame. Its time to finally do this swap guys!! come on this would be sweeeeeeeet!!!

Looks like I got me another project on my projects list
Except blaster motors run ~$450 in beat to hell condition here :(

Ha, looks like I sparked a lot of curiosity. We actually placed the blaster in the frame and you wouldn't believe how much lines up. Happy hunting.

I have seen 2nd gen 200x motors used in blasters in the past. I dont see why it wont work the other way around.

seriously take a cameraphone pic or something because I`m WAY interested in this idea and if you got one to bolt in stop teasing us...heck, set one loose in the frame so we can see....anything
Xpress....I thought ALL Blaster motors were beat to hell...most commonly blown up quad in the used market short of a Warrior
I would like a cheap two-stroke for a 200x chassis conversion but it has to be feasible economically or I would rather buy a liquid R with a way better chassis....Blaster HP stuff is plentiful which gives huge points to this swap v. 250R
are Blaster HP motor parts expensive?...edit to say DC covered this in his post and I looked it up...and WOW Vito`s is very reasonable which makes racing a 200X I already have more feasible with the 250s....and I`m sick of rebuilding 4strokes when a pinger is sssssooooo much easier
this sounds like a great idea
pics please.

the blaster motor is an awesome motor. alot of possibilities for them motors. throw on a 240 bigbore kit and them motors come to life. add better reeds, bigger carb, a port and polish, timing advancer, lightened crank, they move. my blaster's motor is tweaked to its max, and i love it. and its one of the most dependable two stroke motors i have ever had. you'll have to find a way around the single downtube on the 83-85 x frame though for the exhaust...

240bb kit isnt even really needed, nice yes but needed no.. a $200 port job and a $65 head redesign will net huge gains, and blasters can be relaible if taken care of, its the kids that beat the snot out of them, run them lean, hot seise and cold seise is the problem, in the hands of someone who knows how to maintain, tune, and ride there very dependable! iv herd of guys on modded blaster going 5-10 years on a top end
a 86 200x would be perfect as the frame would alow for the pipe, but with some minor tweeking a right side pipe should be the trick

Okay, I can't do anything with this until I graduate MMI and move back to NY, but my brother has been test fitting it, kind of. The swing arm mount lines up very well which is what I was most worried about. I have an idea for the exhaust pipe, and all other mounts just need a fabricated piece to make everything work in unison. Teaser pictures!!

Honda owns so hard that other companies copies their motor mounts. Frame is an 84 and the engine is a 94. I can't wait to get home!! Whoever does this before me, you're just a douche. Haha. Nah, to each their own, this will be my favorite bike. Just please, don't use my color scheme. (Black white and blue)

so it just bolts right up to stock motor mounts? or did you have to make new ones?

I can't think of many motor swaps that don't need new mounts and spacers made along with the other issues to deal with. It can be done well or just thrown together.
I would not put that motor in an 83-85 200X. That solid downtube is right in the way of the exhaust. Even the 83/84R would fit up much better to a Blaster as well as the Tri-Z. I'm not sure if the positioning would be better with an 86/87 200X, I'd have to take a good look at it.........

A YZ490 is very close to the blaster in sizes and mounting. Use that for an istant 55 hp

Bringing this thread back from the dead! I recently came acquired a roller 86' 200X that needs a heart. I've already got a stock 86 and one with a 200SX motor in it......so this swap interests me. Has there been anyone who has actually finished this swap? Or a different air cooler 2 stroke motor in the 86/87 200X frame? I have seen the one with the CR125 motor. Thanks!
