The 86 250 es big red I bought for $60 finally has a new set of rubbers on it as of this morning. When I bought it, the baffle was in the trunk because it rusted out. Out of boredom a buddy of mine had some sheet metal tape and rigged up real frikken sweet like. Well that lasted to about 3rd gear on the first trip around the neighborhood and needles to say my neighbors hate my guts and thats their fault for not owning trikes.
I was told it will cause damage to the valves? Is that true? And if so what other long term effects are going to happen to awesome sounding $60 hunk-o-gold?

no way. You can run the bike with no silencer and it even has a better hp response "But" there is no real point because of the noise.

while on this subject, did 90's and 110's have baffles? mine seems kinda loud and my 70 has an obvious baffle and it's nice and quiet.

Well, those comments are based on the "Now you have no back pressure theory" but, if it's jetted up (because the exhaust is flowing out easier) I wouldn't be afraid to ride it as long as it isn't so loud as to piss off the neighborhood.
Don't ignore the "jet it up" comment. Your letting out more exhaust, I'd drill holes or remove the airbox lid and I'd bump up my jets a size or so; THATS the tougher part to get tuned in but you may get a little more snot out of it..........

Well the air filter was also in powder form, that explains why it runs so damn good, this thing really wants to go get it. Of course I will be getting a filter soon enough but while everything is still damp and not dusty I don't see a rip around the yard here and there causing any issues.
Its loud but its not overly obnoxious. The neighbor down the road has a predator with a slip on and that thing even pisses me off from time to time.
