I just got an old yamaha that i was told was a 175, all the internet listing i find for part look ups only show 125s. Is there a way to tell what I have? Most other engine i have seen have the displacement stamped or cast into the cylinder base, i can't seem to find it on this one.

Now for the mechanical questions.
!) I have cleaned out the carb and while doing so found it is missing the metering needle, the one that attaches to the slide. Any one have an extra or know where i can get one cheap?

2)also there is a hole in the top of the crankcase below the reed valve asy that looks like it should have a fitting or a plug in it. What is it for?

3)and the hose barb on the left side of the cylinder in front of the reeds, what goes here.

4)I really need a service manual, any one have a pdf?

BTW i spent most of yesterday searching this forum and found lost of great info, thanks

Welcome to the board.

The 175 was only made 82-83.

Check the steering neck for the VIN and post it up.

Thanks MonroeMike. LOT of help. Now all i need is a needle for the carb. Anybody out there got a mikuni needle 4K4 or 4L4? Or maybe a complete carb cheap, doesn't need to be working just have the needle. carb is a VM 24
