Hey I was wondering if someone could tell me how to install an oil cooler on my 85 big red 250. I was checking out some used atv honda oil coolers on ebay, but I don't know which one would be the best to get? If anyone has any pics of a BR with an oil cooler that would be awesome. Thanks!:D

Specifically I do not think there was ever an oil cooler made specifically for the Big Red. However - there ar a few members here who have installed them on 90s, 110s and 200Xs.

Here is a link to one added to a 200X

I cant imagine it would be too hard to install a cooler into a BR... See that oil line on your valve cover right about the rubber button on the right side of the motor...

It does seem like allot of work to install an oil cooler. Do u guys think its alright for my engine to run hundreds of miles without an oil cooler? The reason I ask is because I am making my 250es street legal and am planning to take a long trip on it. What do u think? Thanks!

street legal 3 BR? how fast you plan on going over that couple of hundreds of miles? these are not speed demons lol I would be scared to keep it at a high RPM on extended amount of time.

It would mostly be used locally to get to work, but I did want to plan a trip with it. The speed would be 35-40mph.

You do not need an oil cooler from what you described.
