Just want to make sure this is a 83 model. Need to start working on it and wondering what year parts i can mix and match. Or if it was even worth messing with. Its been setting for a few years now i got it started when i first got it but haven't done anything with it since.

Heres a pic

sweet website it pulls up as a 83, so anything from 83-85 will mix and match. so now the question is should i rebuild this bike or sell it

Dammit!

I'd fix it up. Parts are super cheap for the 1st gen 200x. It isn't like you'd get much by selling it anyway and they're great little trikes when in good working condition.

I have one that's been a back burner project for years. I'm HOPING to finish it this summer but I've said that the last couple of summers.

Someday...

lol same here its been setting behind my shed for a few years now, i really do wanna fix it up though. i dont really care for the kick start though wouldn't mind putting a different motor that had the same performance without the kicker lol

Turn it into an autoX. A lot of people here have done it. There's a couple different pullstart/auto clutch motors that fit without a ton of work.

Yeah i see that alot, what auto 200 motor would be the best to put in that would not require alot of modification and still give decent performance. something with about a 60 mph top speed. my 84 200s all original tops at about 49 with me on it.

not sure which motors work best. Never done it myself.

Top speed is a matter of gearing. Assuming it has enough power to pull a taller gear in the conditions you ride, I would think 60mph wouldn't be too tall of an order for a 200cc autox.

yeah thats a thought i guess, a 200s would probably be the best match huh?

185s, 200 or 200s engine will work best since they don't have the electric starter to get in the way like the 200e and 200m do. 200es won't work at all since it's shaft drive.

84-85 Is supose to be said to be stronger, but i will say 83 is harder to get mono shock off and on, vs 84-85. thats all ive noticed. i got a 84-85 swingarm forsale for $5 cuz i want it gone if you want any extras

n thanks for the tire info, it looks alot like the OEM one

I just did built an auto x last weekend, it took me 2 1/2 hours to complete. I dropped a 200s engine in and used all the electrical from the 200x. Crimped all the connections and extended the black&yellow wires coming from the bottom end. Took the green and grounded it to the top motor mount. I have had many 83-85 200x's and they are fun bikes, but for trail riding and puttin around the autox works great. heres a couple pics, i through this bike together in no time so simple.

That rear skid plate you have is something that i have Never had. rare part where i live i guess
