Rode the 350x yesterday and the clutch is slipping. I haven't replaced one in this yet so need to know a few things. I have read that OEM clutch discs are better than aftermarket. It looks like there are two sets of plates-fiber and metal? is this correct? Do I need to replace all of them or just the fiber ones? Also, springs need to be replaced at the same time? OEM or aftermarket on these? Any help would be appreciated.

Just Replaced A Clutch in A 350x, Got one of E-bay, If i where you i would take it apart and see if it is your springs or plates, Mine was just the plates. And yes replace all the plates they come together in a kit.

IMHO - DO NOT EVER USE AN EBAY CLUTCH!!

Use OEM, 5o6 6 fibers and 4 or 5 steels depending on the model.

People like to run Barnett HD springs in them.

OEM lasted 20 years or more, they HAVE to be good!! You'll pay nearly double what an EBAY kit will cost but those do not last....................

That is what i needed to know. Thanks guys. I will buy OEM from Service Honda (seems to have the best pricing) and I will find Barnett springs on ebay I guess. Any special tools needed to do the job?

No special tools just a big 24 or 26 mm socket, don't ding the threads when you tap back the stay on the main bolt.

The manual goes into good detail on this all..
Good Luck..

make sure you soak the fibers in oil before installing them

Nothing wrong with the stock springs.... They lasted 20years too

Some guys just like the Barnett springs and OEM clutch; I believe they are a bit stronger as far as how tight the keep the plate pack together..........

Good point Roy, he didn't ask but even 5 minutes in oil is enough. Don't let anyone tell you that they have to be soaked overnight etc etc etc.

Just imagine how long the clutch would of lasted if it had HD springs in it from the factory.

I dont think much of stock clutch springs at all, IMO they should of came with barnetts from new.
