so after sitting for a yr and a new coil cleaned the carb twice took apart the petcock cleaned it and she fired right up, and even idled better than ever before. so before i left for work i had to start it again, only this time th throttle must have stuck open somehow it idles real high and loud when fully choked and slowed down some with the choke off, the idle stop screw seemed ineffective, does the chok being on affect the idle screw, where did i go wrong?

Sounds like the idle jet is clogged again . Put an inline gas filter , clean the carb again and it should fix the problem .
Check the intake manifold for cracks/leaks also .

does the inline gas filter go in the tank and connected to the petcock ?

Put the inline filter between the petcock and the carb to stop any trash from clogging the carb up .

You can get a copy of the 86 200X service manual here. It should tell you everything you need to know.
